Don't waste your money on this

I was foolish enough to buy this from Amazon and it convinced me never to buy again any title that has the suffix ..for dummies. It is completely worthless, it is not a how to and it contains no purposeful concept for any sort of PR activity. If this edition has the additional CD... its worthless too, contain a complete crock of useless shareware and 30 day trial software.
The book is one long self-penned hagiography about how wonderful the author is and what a genius at PR he is. Well where this book is concerned that's true. It goes on at length discussing a thin veneer of material with little or no clear plan of attack. The book itself is an exemplary example of all that is wrong with PR. It is some exhausted title in a pre-remaindered condition that has been re-furbished in the emperor's new clothes that is the signature of the For Dummies title. Splash on a bit of yellow and black, slap in a few moronic cartoons and before you know, it a load of old cobblers is as bright as sixpence.
However it is called For Dummies for a reason- stumping up 20 pounds for this easily sorts the men from the Dummies. I, regretfully fall into the latter category in this case. But never again Wiley and Hungry Minds, never again.

Totally Missed

I was at a disadvantage because there were no reviews of this book available prior to my purchase. Here is my remedy to that. Having my own business I wanted to learn how to utilize my opportunites at public speaking and appeal to the audience, media opportunities, and generally looking good. This is honestly the first "for Dummies" book I have purchased and wanted to take back. This book was written from the perspective of a PR person to other PR people/businesses. It is by no means directed or truly beneficial to the private business owner like myself trying to utilize the media and how to appeal to the public as the foremost authority. Save your money and find another book.

Good, not comprehensive

I have worked with this workbook extensively over the last two months in preparation for my CFP exam. I have answered every question in the book. I am writing my review in between day one and day two of the actual CFP exam and I can tell you that the questions in the book are definitional, simplistic, and immature compared to the actual exam. The book does cover the major areas the test is focused on. The answers provided for each question are brief. Many provide enough relevant facts to explain the answer, however some simply give the answer.

Tells you where you need to study more

I used this book to prepare for the exam. It was a good question book on its own, but it also pointed me in the direction of where I needed to study more. The book seems to simplify a lot of the hardest topics which is what I was looking for. There were enough questions that I was able to go back over them and not have them memorized.

The books came in great condition. I've always wanted an encyclopedia set and World Book is one of the best. Not college material but still full of information.

i really enjoyed the comparisons and differences between other works like the lean startup, business model canvas, the service blueprint, etc. i put the first workbook to work immediately and was impressed with the depth you can (un)cover with 4 simple questions spanning past, present and future.

High on Low: Harnessing the Power of Unhappiness is difficult to easily categorize; and that may prove its ultimate strength, even though it presents somewhat of a marketing challenge.

It's of diminutive stature (less than a pocket-sized paperback in height), it toes the line between philosophy, spirituality, and self-help guide, and it posits a surprising thought: does the definition of living a full, successful life mean never (or seldom) being unhappy? Wilhelm Schmid offers the perspective that discontent, sadness and depression are actually an important part of leading a well-rounded, active life - and that unhappiness should not be 'treated away' so much as accepted as part of this process.

In the ongoing search for chronic happiness, have we forgotten the underlying benefits of sadness? This little book covers the gray areas between melancholy and depression, finding meaning in a sense of place where one is unhappy, and pinpointing the real values in life.

Unhappiness holds its own strengths in powers not to be found in an ongoing state of contentment, and this book shows how to recognize and accept these positive points.
