Not Big Enough Maps!

There are 79 pages wasted on a table of city names versus page number and map location. There are only 89 pages of actual detailed maps. There are 48 pages wasted on world city maps. There are 32 pages wasted on statistics that belong in a world almanac. Only 35% is what an atlas should be. The spine is too stiff. For example in western Canada, you can not read the inside 1.25 inch of the map without breaking the spine. There is only 7.5 inches of readable map on each page

Not for classroom

Purchased for use for a high school geography classroom. Wouldnt have purchased if there had been a review that said, "Don't buy for classroom!" Atlas is not thematic and has driving maps of major cities in the world. Not useful for a Geography class. But, if you want a desk altas to map out a trip, for example, then maybe you might like it.

Index issues

If I am not mistaken, there are no country capitals listed in the index. I have looked for Moscow, Washington DC, and some others. They simply aren't there. I had an Intro to geography assignment that required me to find the coordinates for these cities. There are probably 50 pages of cities listed with their cords., but no capitols? I have looked to see if they are listed somewhere else in the book but I cannot find them. I give it 1 star for this reason. C'mon Oxford - I trusted this to be a scholarly work because your name was on it.
If I am mistaken and someone is able to find these cities, please let me know and I will gladly take this review down. I hate to review based on one issue (the other parts of the atlas seem to be good) but this issue makes me wonder what else this atlas is lacking. I will likely return it in the next few days.
